Shiv Sena worker killed by motorcycle-borne youths in Thane

THANE: A 40-year-old functionary of the Shiv Sena was killed by two motorcycle-borne unidentified youths on the busy Teen petrol pump area at around 6pm on Tuesday.
Police suspect that Sanjay Rokade could be a victim of gang rivalry and are inquiring with the suspicious elements around the Tekdi bungalow area here who could be involved in the killing.
It is learnt that the youths on the motorcycle were armed with an iron rod which was used to hit Rokade on the head.He is said to have died before admission to the hospital.
It is learnt that Rokade was a close associate of one local hoodlum Afzal who was killed about a decade back in gang rivalry. Rokade is understood to have been involved in the murder of the one of those involved in the killing of Afzal.
